1. The signer(s) should personally appear in front of the Notary Public.

2. The signer(s) should have a current government ID such as a Driver License, Passport, or Military ID.

3. Don't sign any document until you are in front of the Notary Public. The other parts of the document should be filled out ahead of time though so that there are no blanks in the document.

4. For Loan Signings - it's generally a good idea to have your property tax, homeowner's insurance, and mortgage information on hand for the signing since some forms require this information to be filled in. Also, have a copy of the signer(s)' IDs (see #2 above) available for the Notary Public to return with the original documents.
